It's official: Ryan Reynolds files for divorce from Scarlett Johansson
Nine days after they announced their separation, Ryan Reynolds has officially filed for divorce from wife Scarlett Johansson.
The 34-year-old appeared at a courthouse in Los Angeles yesterday to file the petition to end his two year marriage to 26-year-old Scarlett.
The Canadian actor listed the couple’s date of separation as December 14, 2010 and cited as 'irreconcilable difference' as the reason behind the split.

There is no prenuptial agreement, and neither he nor Scarlett are asking for spousal support.
The pair released a joint statement on Dec 14 saying: 'After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love, and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated.'
Until yesterday, it wasn't clear whether Ryan or Scarlett would be the one to file, even though Scarlett was the one who allegedly initiated the split.
Initial reports suggested Scarlett was ending the relationship after the stress of being apart from Ryan got too much for her to take.

But sources close to the Green Lantern star tell a different story.
'They're both strong-willed and stubborn people. There was a lack of warmth between them, that was troubling,' a source told InTouch.
'He [Ryan] said it sounded like she was yelling every time she talked to him. When Scarlett visited Ryan when he was filming The Proposal, she was screaming at him in his trailer - going nuts.
The source said: 'He can be an overbearing control freak. He's more traditional and she's more independent.'

But although Ryan initially enjoyed Scarlett's independent streak, even taking advantage of it to go motorbiking around Europe alone this summer, it led to friction.
'When he wanted her there, he expected her to drop everything and come to him. She got tired of the double standard,' says the source.
Johansson started dating the Canadian actor in Spring 2007 - shortly after he ended his two year engagement to singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette.
They got engaged in May 2008 and were married in an intimate ceremony in Vancouver, Canada, that September.
