Hydraulic trim and tilt end caps can be a challenge to remove. Their holes for gripping are very small, and when they seize up badly enough, you reach the limitations of a wrench very quickly. At that point, your wrench starts breaking off teeth, while the cap itself doesn’t move at all.
To solve this problem, we’ve developed our own trim and tilt impact tool as an air hammer attachment. It hooks right into those tiny end cap holes and breaks the cap loose effectively and easily.
How to Remove Hydraulic End Caps Using Our Impact Tool
The Marine Tech trim and tilt impact tool attaches to a standard air hammer (10mm shank) and then hooks into any of the holes on your end cap.
It’s very easy and quick to use: simply snap it into the air hammer, apply it to the end cap, and let the air hammer do its job. The end cap will break loose just like that.
Please note that this is a quick and destructive method. Once you remove the cap using this tool, you will need to fully replace it with a new end cap. You will not be able to reuse the end cap after removing it.
