Mumbai: A Mumbai resident took to his Twitter on Saturday to share pictures of glass shards which were allegedly found in a Domino's pizza that he had ordered. Following this, the pizza company ordered a probe into the incident on Sunday.
The customer, Arun Kolluri, while sharing the pictures questioned the quality of the food sold by the pizza outlet and how it could have been fatal for his life. He also tagged the Mumbai Police's Twitter handle while sharing his complaint.
He said that he discovered two to three glass pieces in a pizza that he had ordered online. However, the resident did not mention the outlet or date of delivery in his tweet.
Mumbai Police responded to Arun's tweet advising him to first write to the customer care of Domino's before seeking any legal remedies.
" Please write to customer care first. If they don't reply or give unsatisfactory reply, then you can think of legal remedy,"the Mumbai police said in reply to the customer's tweet.
Meanwhile, taking cognisance of the customer's complaint, a Domino's Spokesperson on Sunday said its quality team carried out a thorough inspection of the pizza outlet in question, but no anomaly was found.
The company also got in touch with the aggrieved customer to ascertain the facts of the matter through various channels of communication.
"We follow a strict no-glass policy in the kitchens... and follow the highest standards of quality and safety," said the company.
"We will be investigating the matter further once we get the samples from the user and take action accordingly," Domino's added.
Meanwhile another Twitter user replied to Arun's tweet citing a similar experience while ordering food from Zomato.
"Recently, in Delhi, I ordered Chicken Thukpa and momos via Zomato from a restaurant. One of the momos had a small metal screw inside that. It just makes me concerned about the premises where these restaurants are cooking. Such incidents require serious action," Twitter user, Sanandan Routray, wrote.
Zomato care responded to the customer's complaint and sought him to share the complain with them to resolve the issue.
